Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges July 30 - August 5 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

UPDATE (7/31/2023): An additional ramp closure has been added to this week's schedule:
Tuesday night, August 1
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North Gainesville
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for guardrail repair. Traffic will be directed to exit 43A, Route 29 South, travel to the traffic signal at McGraw’s Corner Drive and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane onto Route 29 North.

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Sunday night, July 30
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
   
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage repair. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.


Monday night, July 31, through Saturday night, August 5
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.


Monday, July 31, through Saturday, August 5
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and follow the roundabout onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.


Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspections. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.


Monday night, July 31, and Thursday night, August 3
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility installation. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.


Monday night, July 31
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be directed farther south, follow the roundabout onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with a detour route.


Tuesday night, August 1, and Wednesday night, August 2
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. 


Wednesday, August 2, through Friday, August 4  
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspections. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.


Thursday night, August 3, and Friday night, August 4
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for noise wall work. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South.
