Overnight Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-66 East and West Continue near Jermantown Road in Fairfax Next Week for Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road are scheduled to occur nightly Monday, December 7, through Friday, December 11, for overhead bridge work for the new Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and should consider using alternate routes.

Monday, December 7, through Friday, December 11
I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

  • I-66 East and West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Jermantown Road Monday night, December 7, through Thursday night, December 10, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly, and Friday night, December 11, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes in both directions on I-66 between midnight and 4 a.m.
  • All lanes will reopen each morning by 5 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, through Friday, December 11, and by 9 a.m. Saturday morning, December 12.

Message boards on I-66 East and West are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66 is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
