HURRICANE IAN DELAYING SLOPE REPAIR
ALONG ROUTE 718 IN NELSON COUNTY

LYNCHBURG – UPDATE: The pending slope repair that will close a section of Route 718 (Mountain Cove Road) near Route 29, just north of Lovingston, will be delayed due to pending stormy weather from the remnants of Hurricane Ian.

Originally set to begin on September 30, the project and closure will now start on October 3.

The closure is expected to run until October 17.

A VDOT contractor will install soil nails, drainage pipe, and a retaining wall. VDOT will establish a detour for traffic to follow until the affected section of road is reopened.
