ODD FELLOWS ROAD TO REOPEN
Delays possible during completion of project

LYNCHBURG –In the coming weeks, traffic should be flowing again on Odd Fellows Road between the Lynchburg Expressway and Mayflower Drive.  However, work will continue in the area through the end of the year.

The $17.7 million SMART SCALE project is reconstructing Odd Fellows Road and will result in a two-lane road with a two-way turn lane in the center which will improve access, as well as address congestion and truck traffic on other heavily-traveled connecting corridors. SMART SCALE “provides a method of picking the right transportation projects for funding to ensure the best use of limited tax dollars.”

Odd Fellows Road has been closed to through traffic since removal of the bridge over the Norfolk-Southern Railroad began in October 2018. This bridge has been replaced and construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Odd Fellows Road and Albert Lankford Road/Murray Place is underway. Motorists should continue to be alert for construction equipment and manpower, as well as possible delays and temporary lane closures.

This is the second and final phase of the Odd Fellows Road Interchange and Improvement Project. W. C. English, Incorporated in the prime contractor on the project.
