ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY – As of July 7, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has reopened Route 602 (Longview Drive) to traffic following the completion of a total bridge replacement over Chuckatuck Creek, between Route 601 (Audubon Road) and Route 600 (Oliver Drive) in Isle of Wight County.

VDOT crews began the bridge substructure and superstructure replacement in November 2022. The original structure was a single-span, steel beam, wood deck bridge on wood piles. The new two-span, 74-foot-long concrete deck bridge features new concrete piles, rail posts, guardrail, cap and abutments.
